The photo mat actions are designed to create a mat or frame from the photo itself. They will work in Photoshop 6.0 and later. Here are some of the Mats you can make: Darkened and Half-Darkened Mats Lightened Mats Normal Mats Complex Mats

The actions are provided in both full-sized and web-sized versions.

Darkened mat You select the area that will appear inside the mat. As you see, you can make an asymmetric mat if you want. The Half-Darkened mat is similar, but not quite as dark.
Lightened mat
Normal mat
Complex Mats Your selections are not limited to simple rectangles: you can make them more complex. One way to add complexity is to use "Add to Selection" and "Subtract from Selection" when using the selection tools.
