How can I control the width of the Subtle PopOut line?
The Eraser Tool doesn't seem to work. Why?
My finished PopOut has a fine line dividing the PopOut from the main part of the image. How can I avoid that?
The action is behaving strangely, and none of these questions and answers help. What now?
Your image mode is probably not compatible with the actions. Examples of incompatible modes are indexed color and
multi-channel. Convert your image to one of the other modes, such as RGB, CMYK, Lab, or Grayscale before running
the action.
Also, if you are using Photoshop 6 or 7, make sure your image is in 8-bit mode. 16-bit mode is fine for Photoshop CS.
One other condition that will cause this error is if you forget to use the Rectangular Marquee Tool or some other method
to select the part of the image that will remain inside the frame before running the first action.

Yes, these actions can be used on full-sized
images.

Yes. Here's how:
-
Open up the action by clicking the little arrow just to the left of the word "SubtlePopOut."
-
Scroll down to approximately the 6th step before the end. It says "Contract."
-
Click the empty rectangle between the checkmark and the word "Contract." An icon will appear there after your click.
From now on, whenever you run the SubtlePopOut action, it will stop at that step, allowing you to choose how many pixels wide you want the line to be. If you always want the same size, you could re-record that step.

You probably didn't load the style file that was included in the ZIP file.
To load a style file, go to your Styles Window in Photoshop. If you don't see the Styles Window, you can make it visible from
the Photoshop "Window" menu. In the Styles Window, click the little arrow in the upper-right corner,
and select "Load Styles." Browse to the location where you extracted the files, and load "ACsPopOutStyles.asl."

No. You will need a
version specifically designed for Photoshop Elements.

Starting with version 1.10, the SubtlePopOut action will stop to let you specify the width of the line.
If you are using an earlier version, follow the instructions on
the PopOut Updates page to get the latest version.

If the Eraser Tool isn't erasing the part of the frame or line over your image, make sure that you
are using the regular Eraser Tool. Do not use the Background Eraser Tool or
the Magic Eraser Tool.

When you use the Rectangular or Elliptical Marquee Tool, make sure that
"Feather" is set to 0.
In addition, if you are using version 1.09 or earlier,
when you use the Elliptical Marquee Tool, be sure the "Anti-aliased" checkbox is unchecked.
Better yet, follow the instructions on
the PopOut Updates page to get the latest version.

Some suggestions:
-
Restart Photoshop
People have reported that sometimes, especially right after loading a new action, Photoshop behaves
strangely, and that after closing Photoshop and restarting it, the problems go away.
-
Close some Programs or Restart your Computer
If you've used the actions successfully before, but they aren't working today, your computer might be
short on available memory. If you're running other programs, close some of them and try again.
If you're still having trouble, there could be problems caused by
programs not releasing memory after they terminate. Restarting your computer may help.
